The Beach Boys Who?
Surf music originated in the 60s in southern California, with the pioneers of the genre being big names such as The Beach Boys and Dick Dale. As time has moved on to the present day, the genres that have been included in the so-called ‘surf music’ scene have revolutionized. A range of genres have entered the scene of the years, diversifying the meaning of 'surf music'. Today we see bands like Tame Impala and other indie rock bands taking the genre by a storm.

From bands that play on the more psychedelic rock side of things, to bands that are a true representation of what it was like to play in the 60s. A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
During the World Surf League held in Ericeira throughout the 9th and 10th of October, Gigstarter launched its live music booking platform in Portugal. Surfing and music are two of the foundations of culture for the younger generations in Portugal so it made sense to start Gigstarters journey in the country combining these two cultures! In cooperation with Boardriders (Quicksilver), an indie live music festival will showcase the live music accelerator’s pioneering talents. Six of Portugal's pioneers of young talents will represent Gigstarter at the event, showcasing the eclectic mix of genres and musicians that are hosted on the live music search engine. The artists that will be playing are Du Nothin, Tomás., Marswell, Green Leather, Sea Angels and DJ Frank Lenzer.
