The month December is always a good time to reflect. Today we look back on last year, and what a year we had. Similar to last year, 2021 was unpredictable and tumultuous. Although this was an exceptional year, here at Gigstarter we have tried many new things and learned a lot along the way. It was great to see how resilient and agile our artists are and how they made something beautiful out of the diresituation. In this article, we will look back on some of this year's special moments and together with our artists we raise our heads for a sparkling new year.
Milestone: 10K Artists
In July 2021 we reached 10.000 artists on our platform!
Not only did our database of artists grow, we also saw that our bookings grew along with it! In the 9 countries where we are active, there were 3.470 offer requests and 1.261 calls, even during corona. We couldn't be more proud and thankful of our artists, on to the next milestone.

Second online livestream
Like last year we made sure that we didn't have to skip an edition of our annual Gigstarter Artist & DJ of the Year. Therefore a second livestream became reality! With new winners announced. Artist of the Year: Julie Hard and DJ of the Year: Mini Maal it was an unforgettable night.

During the World Surf League, held the 9th and 10th of October in Ericeira, we had a special weekend. Why we hear you ask? Because during that weekend we hosted our launch event in Portugal! Together with six young and talented acts we had an amazing start to our adventure in Portugal. The artists that played there were: Du Nothin, Tomás., Marswell, Green Leather, Sea Angels and DJ Frank Lenzer

Gigstarter x ADE
This year was the first time Gigstarter was part of Amsterdam Dance Event! In collaboration with Bla Bla Sounds, we turned our headquarters into an exhibition filled with art and music. Our very own DJ's Kiwi Club and Dawn of a New World played a live set during the event.

Partnership with the Green Branch
Partnering up made it possible to contribute to a greener world by making your booking C02 neutral. Together we can make live music eco-friendly! The Green Branch is a social impact company that specializes in setting up reforestation projects in Brazil. The projects focus on planting biodiverse forests that create added value for the local community and environment. Together we made it possible for you to book a CO2-friendly event on Gigstarter! Growth
We want to thank everyone who helped us this past year and support us at Gigstarter. We hope that in 2022 we can enjoy live music again as we knew it before the pandemic and that we will continue to grow the platform even more. With the support of artists and bookers that use our platform, we can achieve to be the largest live music engine!
