DJ Nitro a.k.a Mr Nitro is a drum and bass DJ, producer, record label owner and radio station manager based in the UK. His love for the underground music scene all started from a very young age in the early 90’s as he grew up listening to hardcore, oldskool & jungle before watching it evolve into the epic array of sub genres that we have now in the drum & bass scene.

Nitro initially got hooked on drum and bass by listening to a wide variety of pirate radio stations ‘back in the day’ such as Dream FM, Donn FM, Origin FM, Rude FM and Kool FM to name a few. Before long things naturaly progressed and from around 1993 Nitro began setting up his own home studio and started learning the art of mixing and scratching for himself.

Having followed the scene his whole life Nitro has been collecting vinyl for many years ranging from Hardcore, Old school, Jungle and Drum & Bass all the way through from jump up to the best in liquid, tech, minimal and deep DnB that he plays today.

Although Mr Nitro has very eclectic music taste and loves a bit of everything he specialises in Drum & Bass, Jungle and Oldskool and has been known to play with a bit of everything including UK Garage & Breakbeat too.

His main weapons of choice are 3x Technics 1200’s & pure vinyl but these days he also uses Serato Scratch & DJ Controllers to play his own tunes, digital tracks and forthcoming releases. Nitro has been playing out since 1996 and has done live radio shows on various legal and pirate radio stations including Origin FM, Eruption FM, Laylow FM and over 6 online radio stations!

Over the years Nitro has featured on line ups for events not only in London but all over the the world working along side some top artists in the scene from veterans in the game like Andy C, Micky Finn, Funky Flirt, Nicky Blackmarket, Randal & Klute to some of his favourite soulful drum and bass artists like D-Bridge, Markus Intalex, Technimatic, LSB & BCee to name a few…

Around 2008 after a couple of years training in website & graphic design and many years of playing on various online radio stations that he felt could be improved in some way or another, Nitro decided to focus his efforts on ‘Sharing the love for dnb’ and to have his own stamp on the dnb scene. His next step was to design and create his own online radio station, events promotion and record label that only featured quality artists and specialising in the more soulful side of drum & bass and giving like-minded artists the best platform possible to share their love for the music with the world… Different Drumz was born!

Nitro has also been producing his own tracks since 2003 using many programs including Reason and Cubase. Nitro’s main focus over the last few years or so has been on his music production, improving and running Different Drumz to the highest standard as possible and his website and graphic design work. To date Nitro has had tracks released with various record labels from around the world including; Fokuz Recordings (Netherlands), Influenza Media (Netherlands), Liquid Brilliants (Russia), Liquid Drops (Greece), Erculean Recordings (UK), FX909 Music (France), Young NRG Productions (Italy), Dirt Lies & Audio Black (UK), Extent Recordings (UK), Distorted Records (UK) and of course his own label Different Drumz Recordings (UK).
