Back-end Developer / IT Architect (internship)

Gigstarter is continuously improving its concept and its applications, used by thousands of artists and bookers every month. We are a fast-growing, international startup in which you'll be able to learn a lot (also outside the IT domain) and can really have meaningful impact. That's why we're in search of a creative BE developer to enrich our team. Preferably you study informatics, software engineering or a derivative. Start dates are flexible and if needed a research project can be executed in house.

You will spend your time on the development of the back-end of our 3rd party service plugin portal. An important part of the tasks consists on finding a future proof architecture and introducing the first plugin pilots together with our community managers and business developers. Back-end and Ruby on Rails (or alike, say Django) experience therefore is a pre. The internship can start immediately. Our preference goes to a full-time work internship so that you can immerse yourself fully, but can – depending on your ambitions or scholar obligations – be combined with a research project.

We have plenty of data, interactions and extensions/projects on the shelve that could be combined with scientific research. Apart from the architecture of an open API for 3rd party plugins, we're working on machine learning related to our matchmaking applications and conversion optimisation, from artist acquisition to booking review. After a successful internship there will be an opportunity for a side-job in combination with your further studies or a full-time career opportunity depending on your abilities, aspirations and fit within the team.

We are looking for someone who is/has:

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails (or a comparable framework)
  • Feel for UX
  • Comfortable working with HTML, CSS and javascript
  • 4th year or master student (preferably)
  • Team player
  • Fully gets Gigstarter, its values and its mission
  • Available to work on-site in Amsterdam

The following is nice to have:

  • Passion for live music
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience with React
  • AI/Machine learning knowledge/interests

At Gigstarter you'll find:

  • A nice project where you'll have the opportunity to develop yourself
  • A small and supportive team (incl. sr. developers)
  • An office in the heart of Amsterdam.
  • A connection with the live music industry
  • A unique entry on your resume
  • Option for a (side)job after the internship
  • At Gigstarter we love parties, so expect visiting interesting live music events and Friday-afternoon drinks
